What exactly happens at the Polling Booth
Once you discover the polling booth of your constituency, you must be there between the official voting timings only.
1. Initially the polling officials will look over your name on the voter list & check your ID proof.
2. Secondly the polling officials will ink your finger, give you a slip & make you sign on a register (Form 17A).
3. Then the voter will have to submit the slip at the third polling official, reveal your inked finger and proceed to the polling booth.
4. Next record your vote by pressing the ballot button opposite the symbol of your preferred candidate on the Electronic Voting Machine (EVM), You will hear a beep sound, and a red led light will glow.
5. Check the slip displayed in the transparent window of the VVPAT machine. The slip with the Candidate serial No. name & symbol will be showed for only 7 seconds before it drops in the sealed VVPAT box.
6. You can click on NOTA, None of the above, if you are not satisfied with any of the displayed candidates; it is the last button on the electronic voting machine. (EVM)
