Qualified JEE Main 2020? Need only Class 12 passing certificate for admission into any NITs, CFTIs

In the wake of COVID-19 outbreak, Central Seat Allocation Board (CSAB) relaxed admission norms for admissions into National Institute of Technology (NITs). Students who qualify JEE Main 2020 now only need to provide a school final or Class 12 passing certificate to get admission into any National Institutes of Technology (NITs) or the Centrally Funded Technical Institutions (CFTIs).

Earlier, students required 75% marks in class 12th or rank among the top 20 percentile in the qualifying exam to be eligible for admission. But this year only need their 12th passing certificate for admissions, irrespective of the score obtained by them. National Testing Agency will conduct JEE Main 2020 between September 1 to 6. IITs have already informed the relaxation in percentage criteria for admissions this year.

Due to the major education disruption created by COVID 19 that led to the WBCHSE, CISCE, CBSE and several board exams being cancelled, the CSAB has decided to change the NIT admission criteria for this year.

Here what HRD minister tweeted on 23-July-2020:

"Attention JEE Main aspirants! For admissions in #NITs & other Centrally Funded Technical Institutions, apart from qualifying #JEE Main, the #eligibility is to secure a minimum of 75% marks in XII Board exams or rank among the top 20 percentile in their qualifying examinations." Dr. Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank tweeted.

"Due to prevailing circumstances, Central Seat Allocation Board (#CSAB) has decided to relax the eligibility criterion for admissions to NITs and other #CFTIs." he said.

"JEE Main 2020 qualified candidates will now only need to obtain a passing certificate in class XII examination irrespective of the marks obtained." he added.
