There is no need to carry cash for payment to toll plazas. Use FASTag!!

What is FASTag?

FASTag is a brand name of Electronic Toll Collection (ETC) program of Ministry of Road Transport & Highways, Government of India. The program is implemented by National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) promoted Indian Highways Management Company Limited (IHMCL). FASTag has a validity period of five years which can be recharged as and when required after initial purchase once.

Where do you fix FASTag in your car?

A FASTag is affixed on the windscreen of the vehicles which enables one to drive through toll plazas without stopping for cash transactions.

It employs Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology which makes toll charges payment possible directly from the prepaid accounts linked to it.

Benefits of using FASTag :

-       Fast passing through Toll Plazas
-       Various options like credit card, debit card, NEFT/ RTGS or net banking are available for recharging FASTag online.
-       SMS alerts are issued on payment of toll charges or when the balance becomes low etc.

Future of FASTag:

The possibility of its being made mandatory at some locations in future cannot be ruled out entirely. This system is likely to be used for other services also like payment for parking charges at parking lots and various other payments at wayside amenities. In future it is expected that more banks and mobile wallet operators will join the endeavor.

The online payments systems are likely to improve transparency in toll transactions and reduce revenue leakages.
