Kolkata Metro Resume Services: Important Things to Know Before You Travel

Metro rail services in Kolkata resumed on Monday (14th Sept 2020) after a gap of more than five months. The regular services were suspended on March 23 due to the COVID-19 outbreak. However, the coaches were mostly empty in the first few hours.

Kolkata metro commuters have to pre-book travel slots to avail the service. Under the new reservation system, Metro passengers have to book e-passes through an app before they take a ride. This has been done to restrict the number of passengers boarding a train. The QR codes of the e-passes are being scanned at the stations. Tickets are being sold in the form of smart cards.
